Abstract

Georg Wachs murdered a shoemaker in order to steal his watch. As he was leaving, the man's two children came in so, to remove the threat of being identified, he attacked them with the same hammer used to kill their father. He saw the shoemaker's wife approaching and murdered her with the hammer once she was inside the shop. The 9 year-old daughter survived her injuries. Georg Wachs confessed to the murders, was found guilty according to Article 146 and 147, Nr. IV and Article 6 and Article 60, Pt I of the Criminal Code (Strafgesetzbuch), and was sentenced to death by beheading.
