Abstract

The confessions and sentences of 3 men and the sentences of 3 women. Hannß Georg Ernst, commonly known as Potsche, ca. 30, confessed to breaking and entering for the purpose of stealing, theft of farm animals, and rough treatment of some of his victims. He operated with accomplices in almost all cases. Ernst was given a sentence of hanging but that sentence was lessened to beheading with a sword after which act his head was to be displayed on a pike and his body buried. Johann Högerl, commonly known as Hannes, 40, maintained his innocence until he was tortured. At the time, he confessed to stealing on multiple occasions. He was sentenced to be hanged. Michael Thater, commonly known as red or red-headed Michel or Franz Brunner, 30, confessed to 12 crimes of theft, often with accomplices. He was sentenced to be hanged. Kunigunda Justheimen was punished for evil deeds and keeping bad company. She was sentenced to be beaten. Margaretha Kräuerin and Margaretha Knollin were found to be wicked and dissolute women who also kept bad company. They were each sentenced to be pilloried and beaten.
